Pre Paid Cell Phone - Still The Popular Package! |
|

A couple of weeks ago I went out and forgot to take my mobile with me. Honestly, I would have felt more comfortable walking the streets naked! I mean, How on earth did we ever manage without the pre paid cell phone? It remains as popular in 2008 as when it was first launched way back when, and the reasons are obvious. When those first pre-paid cell phones were introduced to the word, prices were a little on the high side, but as competition hotted up amongst service providers, costs began to tumble, and they haven’t stopped since. This is great for we consumers.
In the past, and still to some extent today, the mobile phone was considered little more than a fashion accessory and a status symbol, but their true value as an excellent communication tool has made them more or less an extension to the working arm in a world where technology has become a part of who we are.
When owning a mobile became the norm, I like most people, had my favorite models and for me that was Sony Ericsson. I had all the Sony Ericsson cell phone accessories of the day and later jumped onto the hands free cell phone kits followed more recently by the Bluetooth cell phone headset. However, these days the trusty mobile has become a pain in the backside as it becomes an office in the pocket, and it’s that role as a corporate communication tool, not the happy gadget, that I’m writing about here.
Whenever I find myself in a new city, working from there for an indeterminate length of time, I often trade my usual cell phone number for a pre paid cell phone. The reasons for this are many, but the over riding factor is that I find pre paid cell phones to be cheaper and more convenient in the short term. The nature o my job is such that it takes me to several parts of the country. And I remain in some cities for periods ranging from a few days to several weeks. Initially, I used to carry out my communication with the headquarters and the branch offices through my regular cell phone. But the long distance calls were expensive, and the roaming charges needlessly so. Which is why, upon discussion with the finance guys, I decided to go in for a pre paid cell phone.
I find pre paid cell phones to be extremely convenient. For one thing, they are literally ready to go from the moment I buy them. I can drop by at any of the dealerships of the numerous cell phone companies, check the charges to find which are the best, and just buy one off the shelf. It takes little more than a valid drivers license to buy a pre paid cell phone in most states. And the phones are ready to go from the very moment I switch them on. I quickly send out a message to the headquarters informing them of my new number and get on with my work.
The pre paid cell phone makes it easy for me to keep in touch with my local contacts. They no longer have to use costly airtime to get in touch with me and I am a locally available resource to them. As for the headquarters, as their calls to me are more infrequent, the cost difference works in their favor. Next, I don’t have to pay monthly subscription charges on a pre paid cell phone unlike the one I pay on my regular cell phone. So the value of my pre paid cell phone is almost all of what I paid for it. No additional fees. No unused balances. Finally, I can limit the usage of my pre paid cell phone to get the most from it. If I know I am going to be in a city for a short duration, I can load my pre paid cell phone with lesser amounts. If I know I am going to be there for a longer duration, I put in more money.
There are some disadvantages to a pre paid cell phone too. They are for instance, not very affordable for extended periods of time. And, being pre paid, the charges per minute are much higher than on long term plans. But if used right and with care, you can get a lot more from your pre paid cell phone than a regular connection. Trust me. I have been doing it for a couple of years now.
Although the price of a pre paid cell phone has dropped drastically over the years, it’s still worth checking out some of the second hand deals from time to time, especially if you just need them for a brief period. I’ve personally had a lot of luck finding used sprint cell phones at a bargain, and 3 out of the 4 that I’ve purchased to date have been as good as new, protected in the sturdy cell phone leather case that they came with.
Like all mobile phone deals and packages, you have to work out which is right for you. For me, using a pre paid cell phone can be a real cheap deal. But first I ask myself questions like; what do I use my mobile phone for in the main? When do I use it? And how often do I use it? This For me, the pre paid cell phone is a fantastic way to get the best out of a mobile. A pre paid cell phone deal might not be right for every user though, so it's best to do a little homework prior to purchase.
Closing Notes:
The prepaid cell phone plan just keeps getting better and with the removable SIMs and the cell phone prepaid phone card, consumers really are in a position to control their best prepaid cell phone plan options.
With so much competition between the prepaid cell phone services, it'll only be a matter of time before we see the prepaid disposable cell phone. Just think of that, grabbing a hand phone with the groceries no matter where you are in the world!
I wouldn't mind betting that the some kind of Verizon prepaid cell phone plan will be among the first to announce such a disposable service. The Verizon wireless prepaid cell phone has, in my opinion, been among the finest with regards to call quality and reliability, but there are those who still argue their prepaid cell-phone plans aren't nearly as attractive as those from T-Mobile or Virgin.
