A big button phone for those with special needs!

Okay, so all these smart, fashionable, singing and dancing mobile phones are very appealing to look at but not all of us can get our fingers around those tiny little keypads so easily. My wife says I’ve got banana fingers but that does nothing to help me dial a new number in a hurry. This is why I have setup speed dial for the important numbers and apart from those in my address book, I have little any use for the mobile. I do need the land line though, which is where I do most of my communicating with family and friends.

Communication has always been important, and the phone is the most widely used means of communicating. Although for the elderly and frail people of this world the phone has become more and more difficult to use. There are countless benefits you can get from buying a big button phone. Staying in touch with people is vital, and even more so for senior citizens living alone. But a big button phone is not only useful for folks with big fingers, so who else wants to use a big button phone?

Well, a phone with larger buttons is great for people with special needs. They generally come with 2 or more memory buttons, making it easier so they don’t have to remember important phone numbers. The higher quality big button phone will almost always have a caller ID. Along with the large buttons, this ID has large font, making it easier to read. Knowing who is calling you is just as important as being able to dial. There are countless phone scams and unwanted callers out there, so buying the elderly person in your life a big button phone is very crucial.

An added benefit that you can find with this type of phone is an easy to hold handle. Aside from being great for people who don’t have much muscle control in their wrists and hands, this makes it easy to answer calls more quickly. There isn’t a talk or on button you have to push or anything else that might get in the way of just answering a call. Another added benefit of a big button phone is the fact that they generally come with the capability of extra loud ringer settings. This makes it much easier to hear when someone’s calling.

If you’re a person who, no matter how loud the ringer volume is set, still have a problem knowing when the phones ringing, a big button phone always comes with a flasher warning. Every time the phone rings, a bright red light, generally above the caller ID on the big button phone, will flash quickly with the rings. This works well when the user is nearby, and is really beneficial for the hard of hearing.

The keys are generally very tactile and often come with raised numbers on each of the pads. If your loved one has a difficult time seeing the traditional keys on a phone, this will make it much simpler to dial. A big button phone is perfect for so many reasons. You’re aided in everything from being aware someone’s calling you, to calling someone else yourself. It’s important to be able to have direct communication with your loved ones, as well as in emergences. A big button phone is beneficial no matter how you look at it.

Finding one is relatively easy and can be done either at a local electronics store or any one of the online vendors who specialize in telecommunication accessories. Hooking up a big button phone is as easy as plugging it into the wall and a phone jack. You can purchase a big button phone and be using it within a couple of hours.
