Cheap Cell Phones. Where are the bargains?

The word 'cheap' has always been thrown around too loosely by advertisers of products and services, including the promotion of cheap cell phones, but finding 'good' cheap cell phones is not always easy. The main reason for this is that the cellular phone market is overwhelming and it can be pretty difficult to wade through all these so called 'cheap cell phones' and knowing which ones are good value for money.

With the skyrocketing costs of everything these days, from gas prices to real estate, most people are out to find some sort of bargain. Technology has become an addiction to some people lately and finding bargains isn't always easy to do, especially when folks are constantly on the lookout for the latest and greatest gadgets to hit the electronics market.

Wireless customers usually enter cell phones stores trying to find a great phone plan, while at the same time seeking out the cheapest cell phones. The irony of that desperate search is that those same customers who usually want the best phone they can find, quickly discover that cheap cell phones aren't exactly what they bargained for.

Don't get me wrong, there are some cheap cell phones out there that have some great features, but just be certain to do some research before you go out and make that purchase and commitment. No matter what carrier you are researching, there is always some great deal or gimmick taking place. Most great deals or gimmicks require a customer to sign a 2-year contract in order to give them an appealing phone for a much cheaper price. Often times, customers are lured in by the promise of a free phone when they sign up for a plan. Many will find that what they are actually getting for free is nothing more than a cheap cell phone and a financial commitment to boot. This is not always the case but it's definitely a buyer-beware market.

It's also important to know exactly what you need a cell phone for. If you're anything like me, the only use your mobile is likely to get is to make and receive calls, send the occasional text message, and listen to the radio. All the other gadgetry and software is all fine and dandy, but only if you use it. Therefore I can find some very nice cheap cell phones which neither look nor feel cheap, but simply come minus all the bells and whistles of their more pricy counterparts.

I hate to spend money if it is not necessary but it wasn't always like that. I too have been sucked in by cell phones that do everything except wash your dirty laundry. There is also a fair bit second rate junk out there too when it comes to cheap cell phones. I've gone from one extreme to the other and taken advantage of those really cheap mobile phone offers before, only to find they give me more problems than I have cared to handle.

I have returned to the salesperson many times seeking advice or instruction when I could have avoided all of that in the first place. The best bargain just might come from finding a rebate offer that allows you to get a quality phone for a discounted price. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for, but at the same time, make sure you don’t pay for stuff you won’t actually use.

In all honesty, the cell phone industry has created its own monster. There are constantly offers for cheap cell phones, phone plans, and accessories. By offering free phones, customers have come to desire getting something for free. Many salespeople are pushing the free phones because it puts more commission in their pockets. Take some extra time to look at the different prices and levels of phones.

If you are merely seeking a cell phone for emergency purposes only and barely even touch it unless you have to, a cheap cell phone probably will suit you just fine. However, if you're looking for a camera phone or something with more gadgets and features such as Bluetooth technology, internet access and the like, then you may want to consider spending a bit more and getting something that will continue to keep you happy through your entire commitment.

My rule of thumb is that I tend to stick with a brand name when I buy cheap cell phones. Last year my wife and I purchased cheap prepaid cell phones by Nokia and we're getting a lot of trouble free use from them. Our daughter just got a great discount when signing up to a plan with Verizon. She was offered from range of cheap Verizon cell phones which where in actual fact state of the art models being discounted for new customers. Other trusty offers that have given good value for money is from the variety of cheap sprint cell phones on offer during their promotional periods.

Whatever you choose, it's always good to stick with what you know and stay away from tacky unheard of names. Consumer reviews can be found online which should help you make better informed decisions when choosing your next cheap cell phones.
