The Benefits of Prepaid Wireless Phones

One of the benefits of prepaid wireless phones is that prepaid wireless allows you go mobile without the need of a contract or long-term commitment of any sort. I only ever had one 12 month contract commitment and due to my ignorance it turned out to be a pain in the backside. I've had prepaid wireless phones ever since and they have proved a perfect option for this constant chatter.

Verizon now has three different prepaid wireless plans, and each of these come with a selection of phones that may surprise you. You can get flip phones, camera phones, ring tones, games, and text messaging. Some of these prepaid wireless phones even come with Internet access.

Many customers may be afraid that if they do not have a contract, they are on their own if prepaid wireless phones break or no longer seem to work correctly. Verizon extends service to all of their customers, and will replace your phone for a reasonable price if something happens to it that is out of your control.

Cingular, Tracfone, TMobile, and Virgin Mobile all offer great prepaid services as well. I can’t speak for their selection, but with the incredibly fierce competition among cell service providers, I am relatively sure they offer a wider variety of prepaid wireless phones as well.

One of the great things about healthy competition is that the end user benefits, and those offering the service no only too well that they need to keep stuff sweet if they are to hold on to their customers, so it really is a buyers market these days and most wireless phone services are pretty darn good.

Along with prepaid wireless phones comes the need to buy minutes as you go. This is convenient for the most part, and allows you to control your spending and stay with in your budget. Most carriers offer prepaid wireless phones in major retail outlets, and you can find the minutes at the same location.

To refill your prepaid wireless phone, it’s often as painless as dialing a number and entering your prepaid code from your card. The tricky part is remembering that each amount comes with a different time limit. Many of the lower priced cards have to be refilled more often because the validity date expires. Don't worry though, as your credit gets carried over with most, it just means that if you don't use the small denomination top-ups within the time period, the service will temporarily cease to work.

For Verizon prepaid wireless phones on the company’s original prepaid plan, you can buy minutes in 15, 30, and 75-minute segments. If you buy the 15 minute card, you must refill again in 30 days. For the 30 minute card, you have two months before you must refill.

Keep in mind that if you run out of minutes, there is a grace period to refill prepaid wireless phones before the phone number is lost. This grace period will depend upon who your prepaid wireless carrier may be.

If you need a cell phone, but can’t justify the cost of a monthly contract, look around for the best deals in prepaid wireless in your area. You may be surprised that there are prepaid wireless phones with all the features you want in a phone.

I made a simple list of what exactly I use my phone for, when I use it, and how often. I then made another list of what features and functions I use and surprisingly, making calls, text, and the stereo radio turned out to be the lot. Despite buying previous prepaid wireless phones which had cameras, and internet facilities etc, I really didn’t use them so I made great saving in this area too.
